Inman’s Auto Rescue and Duct Tape

Inman’s Auto Rescue highly recommends keeping duct tape in your car at all times. Ideally you will keep Clear, red and yellow duct tape in the car. Numerous minor problems and even some major ones can be temporarily fixed with duct tape. You may not be a car mechanic but just a few things that anyone can do with duct tape when they have problems with their car:

  • The latch on your hood is loose and you are worried it will break free and cause you to lose sight of the road. Take four long strips of duct tape one at a time. Attach the strips to the very tops of the hood by the windshield and curl the tape around the hood. Take the other end of the duct tape to the bottom of the bumper and curl it around that end. Four times evenly spaced across the hood will keep the hood own until you get to a mechanic. (although if they do not have the part in, they may leave the duct tape on until it comes in.)
  • Tail lights can be a pain but Inman’s Auto Rescue points out that a minor fender bender where the bulbs are not broken but the glass is can be taken care of with duct tape. Simply take red or yellow (whichever light needs a little help) and stick some duct tape on it. This will hold until you can buy replacement taillights.
  • Hold numerous things on or in such as: Hold car doors on, hold bumpers on, hold mirrors in place, hold lights in place, using clear duct tape place over cracks in windows.

The lists go on but Inman’s Auto Rescue remind you to make sure that, for emergency roadside care, you have 1-3 rolls of duct tape in your car, Clear, Red, and Yellow.
